Skin Rejuvenation in Durban North | New pHformula Treatment

1 July 2026

One of the things I love most about working in aesthetics is that skin science never stands still.

As an aesthetic therapist, I'm always investing in education and researching new treatments that deliver better results while respecting the health of your skin. My goal has never been to offer every treatment on the market. Instead, I carefully choose treatments that are clinically backed, effective, and complement the personalised skin journeys I create for my clients.

That's exactly why I'm so excited to introduce the latest innovation from pHformula to The Beauty Box Aesthetics in Durban North.

You may have heard the phrase "liquid microneedling" or "needle-free skin resurfacing" and wondered what it actually means. It's one of the questions I've been answering a lot lately, so I thought I'd explain exactly what it is, who it's suitable for, and why I believe it's an exciting addition to our skin rejuvenation treatments.

Skin Rejuvenation Is Constantly Evolving

When most people think of skin rejuvenation, they think of treatments like microneedling, chemical peels or laser procedures. These remain excellent treatments and continue to play an important role in many of my clients' treatment plans.

But technology is constantly evolving.

Today, we have access to innovative professional treatments that work with the skin in different ways to stimulate renewal, improve hydration and support collagen production, all while minimising downtime.

One of those exciting innovations is pHformula's new professional skin resurfacing treatment.

What Is Needle-Free Skin Resurfacing?

Unlike traditional microneedling, which uses tiny medical-grade needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, pHformula's innovative in-salon treatment uses advanced hydrolysed spicule technology.

These microscopic marine-derived spicules create temporary microchannels within the skin. This helps deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin while encouraging the skin's natural regeneration process.

In simple terms, it provides many of the benefits associated with collagen stimulation and skin renewal without the need for traditional needles.

For many clients, this offers an exciting new option as part of a personalised skin treatment plan.

What Skin Concerns Can It Help Improve?

One of the reasons I introduced this treatment is because it's incredibly versatile.

It may be suitable for clients looking to improve:

  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Dehydrated skin
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Early signs of ageing
  • Fine lines
  • Pigmentation caused by sun exposure
  • Post-acne marks
  • Overall skin radiance

Rather than focusing on just one concern, this treatment supports healthier skin by encouraging natural renewal and improving the skin's ability to absorb professional active ingredients.

Is It Better Than SkinPen Microneedling?

This is probably the question I get asked most often.

The answer is no—they're simply different treatments designed for different skin needs.

SkinPen remains one of the world's leading medical microneedling devices and continues to be an excellent option for concerns such as acne scarring, collagen induction and skin rejuvenation.

The new pHformula professional treatment doesn't replace SkinPen. Instead, it gives me another advanced option that allows me to personalise treatments even further based on your skin condition, lifestyle and treatment goals.

Every skin is unique, which is why I believe in recommending the right treatment for the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Healthy Skin Doesn't Stop at the Clinic

One of the things I explain to every client is that the work doesn't end when you leave my treatment room.

Professional treatments create the opportunity for change, but your daily skincare routine plays an equally important role in maintaining and improving your results.

That's why I'm equally excited about the new pHformula MESO X Boost homecare serum.

Meet the New pHformula MESO X Boost

MESO X Boost has been developed to complement professional treatments by supporting your skin between appointments.

Using biomimetic exosomes, hydrolysed spicules and multiple forms of hyaluronic acid, the serum is designed to help:

  • Boost hydration
  • Support the skin barrier
  • Improve skin firmness
  • Enhance skin renewal
  • Maintain healthy-looking skin between professional treatments

I often tell my clients that consistency is one of the biggest secrets to beautiful skin. Professional treatments combined with the correct homecare routine usually achieve the best long-term results.

Why Winter Is the Perfect Time to Begin

As we've discussed in previous blogs, winter is one of my favourite seasons for corrective skin treatments.

Reduced UV exposure allows us to focus on improving concerns such as pigmentation, uneven skin tone and early signs of ageing while protecting your investment in your skin.

Whether we're using chemical peels, SkinPen, pHformula skin resurfacing or a combination of treatments, winter provides an excellent opportunity to prepare your skin for the months ahead.

My Approach to Skin Treatments

If you've visited me before, you'll know I don't believe in chasing trends or recommending treatments that aren't right for your skin.

Every consultation starts with understanding your concerns, assessing your skin and creating a personalised treatment plan.

Sometimes that plan includes SkinPen.

Sometimes it includes chemical peels.

Sometimes EndyMed PURE is the better option.

And now, for the right client, pHformula's new needle-free skin resurfacing treatment may be another excellent choice.

My goal is always the same: healthier, stronger skin that continues to improve over time.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does pHformula needle-free skin resurfacing use needles?

No. The treatment uses advanced hydrolysed spicule technology to support skin renewal without traditional microneedling needles.

Can I still have SkinPen treatments?

Absolutely. SkinPen remains one of the most effective collagen induction treatments available. During your consultation, we'll discuss which treatment is best suited to your skin goals.

Is there any downtime?

Most clients experience minimal downtime, although this varies depending on individual skin sensitivity and the treatment protocol used.

Who is this treatment suitable for?

It may be suitable for clients concerned about dull skin, dehydration, pigmentation, uneven texture and early signs of ageing. A professional consultation will determine if it's the right option for your skin.

Why is homecare important?

Professional treatments work best when supported by the correct skincare routine. Products such as pHformula MESO X Boost help maintain hydration, support the skin barrier and complement your in-clinic treatment plan.

By Mandy – The Beauty Box Aesthetics, Durban North “Mandy, can you tighten loose skin on the body without surgery?” Yes – and it’s a conversation I have with far more clients than you might imagine. We spend so much time talking about ageing on our faces that we sometimes forget the skin on our bodies is ageing too. The upper arms can start looking softer. Skin around the stomach may lose firmness. The thighs can become less smooth. And the décolletage can start showing the effects of years of KwaZulu-Natal sunshine. Weight changes, pregnancy, ageing, collagen loss and sun exposure can all change how our skin looks and feels. For clients who aren’t looking for surgery, radiofrequency body skin tightening is one of the options I can consider at The Beauty Box Aesthetics in Durban North. Why Does Body Skin Become Loose? To understand skin tightening, we first need to understand what’s happening underneath the surface. Collagen and elastin help give our skin structure, firmness and elasticity. As we age, our skin’s natural support network changes. Weight fluctuations and other life changes can also leave the skin looking less firm than it once did. And this is where I always manage expectations carefully. A non-surgical treatment isn’t surgery. If there is significant excess skin, I will never pretend that a machine can reproduce a surgical result. But for the right client with the right concern, professional radiofrequency treatments can be a useful option for improving skin firmness and contour. How Does EndyMed PURE Body Skin Tightening Work? At The Beauty Box, I use the EndyMed PURE platform. It uses EndyMed’s 3DEEP radiofrequency technology to deliver controlled RF energy into targeted tissue. That controlled heating is designed to stimulate the skin’s collagen-remodelling response. And that’s an important distinction. We’re not “melting away” loose skin. We’re encouraging your own skin to respond. Collagen remodelling happens gradually, which is why radiofrequency skin tightening is very different from a quick cosmetic fix. Which Areas Can We Treat? At The Beauty Box, EndyMed PURE body treatments are available for areas including: Stomach Upper arms Thighs Décolletage Depending on your concern, I will assess the area and explain what I realistically believe we can achieve. Can EndyMed Tighten Loose Skin on the Stomach? The abdomen is a common concern, particularly after weight changes or pregnancy. For appropriate clients, radiofrequency can be used to support skin tightening and body contouring in this area. But this is where honesty matters. If you’re expecting a non-surgical treatment to remove a large amount of excess skin, I would rather explain its limitations than promise you a result a treatment cannot deliver. Good aesthetics starts with realistic expectations. What About Loose Skin on the Upper Arms? Upper arms are another area clients frequently mention to me. Sometimes it’s not size that bothers them. It’s the skin quality itself – that softer or less firm appearance that becomes more noticeable with age. Focused radiofrequency allows us to work on skin firmness without surgery or needles. Can You Treat the Thighs? Yes. The thighs can also be treated with EndyMed PURE as part of a personalised body skin-tightening plan. Again, the treatment I recommend depends on whether your concern is primarily skin laxity, contour, cellulite appearance or something else. These aren’t necessarily the same problem, so they shouldn’t automatically receive the same treatment. Why I Chose EndyMed PURE If you’ve read my previous article about EndyMed PURE and EndyMed PRO, you’ll know I don’t choose technology because a machine has the biggest name or takes up the most space in my treatment room. I choose technology based on what it allows me to do for my clients. EndyMed PURE uses the same core 3DEEP radiofrequency technology across its platform and supports both facial and body applications. For me, that versatility means I can work on the areas my clients actually ask me about while creating treatment plans around the individual rather than the machine. Is Body Radiofrequency Painful? One of the advantages of non-invasive radiofrequency treatments is that they are designed around controlled heating without surgical incisions. Clients generally experience warmth during treatment. Your comfort and the response of the treatment area are monitored throughout the session. When Will I See Results? This is another question where I prefer to be realistic. Collagen isn’t created overnight. Because we’re working with the skin’s natural remodelling response, improvements develop progressively rather than appearing as an artificial overnight transformation. The number of sessions you need will depend on the area, the condition of your skin and what we’re trying to achieve. Consistency matters. Why Consultation Matters I know it is tempting to see a before-and-after photograph online and immediately think: “That’s the treatment I need.” But two people can have what appears to be the same concern for completely different reasons. One person may have mild skin laxity. Another may have significant excess skin. Another may actually be concerned about cellulite or localised fat rather than loose skin. Those require different conversations. That’s why I assess first and recommend second. Mandy’s Professional Tip Don’t choose a body treatment because you dislike a photograph of yourself. Start by identifying what is actually bothering you . Is it loose skin? Texture? Cellulite? Loss of firmness? Body contour? Once we know the real concern, choosing an appropriate treatment becomes much easier. That is the difference between buying a treatment and creating a treatment plan. Frequently Asked Questions About Body Skin Tightening Can radiofrequency replace a tummy tuck? No. Non-surgical radiofrequency skin tightening and surgery are very different treatments. Significant excess skin may require surgical assessment. Radiofrequency is better suited to appropriately selected clients looking for non-invasive improvement in skin firmness. Does EndyMed PURE use needles for body tightening? The focused radiofrequency body-tightening treatments we’re discussing here are non-invasive and do not rely on traditional needles. Can EndyMed PURE be used on the arms? Yes. The Beauty Box offers EndyMed PURE treatments for the arms and upper arms. Can it be used on the stomach and thighs? Yes. Both the stomach and thighs are among the body areas treated at The Beauty Box. How many treatments will I need? There isn’t one number that is right for everyone. I assess the treatment area, your skin condition and your goals before recommending a course. Is there downtime? EndyMed describes its focused RF tightening treatments as non-invasive treatments designed with no post-treatment downtime. Your individual experience can vary, and I’ll explain your aftercare before treatment. Considering Body Skin Tightening in Durban North? If loose or less-firm skin on your stomach, arms, thighs or décolletage is bothering you, the first step isn’t choosing a machine. It’s understanding what is happening to your skin. Come and have a conversation with me at The Beauty Box Aesthetics in Durban North . I’ll assess the area honestly, explain what non-surgical radiofrequency can and cannot do, and recommend a treatment only if I believe it is appropriate for you.
